Lady Cardinals Saved by the Bell

Catonsville MD, December 4th, 2025-  The CCBC Lady Cardinals took home an exciting win Thursday night at home over the Essex County Lady Wolverines, capping it off with a game winner as time expired by Tarshay Bell.

The Cardinals and Wolverines played a close one all night as CCBC went into the half with just a one-point lead. Both teams had three scorers in double figures with Anaiya Morrison and Gabriella Brown both leading their teams with 16 points. Keashiana Murphy and Tarshay Bell both put in 12 points for the Cardinals, and so did Essence Cushionberry and Aniya Brown for the Wolverines.

Both teams were sound defensively forcing over 20 turnovers each and holding each other to under 40 percent from the field. The Cardinals were also scrappy on the boards with Sydney Oliver leading the way with 14 as well as Tarshay Bell grabbing 10 boards for a double-double. The contest had seven total lead changes, six of which came in the final period, with the largest lead of the contest getting up to just nine. There would be a one-point Essex lead going into the final minute, but Aniaya Morrison would put CCBC back on top with 25 seconds. Kayley Lynch would put the Wolverines back on top with a layup with just 2 seconds left. The Cardinals would advance the ball via timeout and Tarshay Bell would hit a buzzer beating 3 to win it for the Cardinals, getting a big victory over the then 6-1 Wolverines

This was a big team win for the Cardinals with key contributions from the entire rotation. CCBC Catonsville moves to 4-5 on the year as they are winners of 3 of their last 4 and will look to continue their momentum December 15th at home against Salem Community College.
