Cardinals Show Fight but Fall Short on the Road Against Montgomery
Rockville, Md. – The CCBC Catonsville women's basketball team put together a determined effort but ultimately fell 75-67 to Montgomery College on Tuesday evening. Despite strong stretches of offensive rhythm and balanced scoring, the Cardinals were unable to overcome Montgomery's fourth-quarter surge and interior presence.
Catonsville opened the game with solid ball movement and defensive energy, keeping the matchup close through the first half. Keashiana Murphy had 8 rebounds, Makenzie Foreman provided a significant boost inside with 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists, and Tarshay Bell added 14 points and 7 rebounds while serving as a consistent scoring option throughout the game.
Montgomery's depth proved challenging, with four Raptors scoring in double figures. Imani Dennis with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Tiana Carey added 21 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 assists. The Raptors' ability to convert in the paint and generate extra possessions through offensive rebounds proved decisive, as they held a 55–33 rebounding advantage.
The Cardinals found momentum in the third quarter, outscoring Montgomery 21–13 and cutting the deficit behind improved perimeter shooting and more aggressive drives to the basket. Sydney Oliver contributed 16 points and 5 rebounds, helping Catonsville stay within striking distance throughout the second half. However, Montgomery capitalized on key free-throw opportunities and timely scoring late in the fourth to secure the win.
With the loss, CCBC Catonsville moves to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Cardinals will look to regroup and build on their strong offensive showing as they prepare for their next matchup.
