Cardinals Earn First Conference Win Over Prince George’s
Largo, Md. – The CCBC Catonsville women's basketball team secured its first conference victory of the season with a hard-fought 66-56 win over Prince George's Community College on Thursday evening at Novak Field House. The Cardinals used a dominant fourth-quarter surge to pull away and improve to 3-4 overall and 1-0 in MD JUCO play.
After a close first half, Catonsville held a narrow 30-25 lead heading into halftime. The Cardinals relied on their defense and rebounding to maintain control. Anaiya Morrison led the way with a strong two-way performance, recording 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists, and 5 steals. Kasiahna Murphy continued her consistent scoring, finishing with 21 points and 8 rebounds, while Sydney Oliver added 11 rebounds and 6 points. Makenzie Foreman provided an inside presence with 16 points and 6 rebound, giving Catonsville's persistence on the glass multiple second-chance opportunities, out-rebounding PGCC 47-38.
The game remained tight through three quarters before the Cardinals exploded for 28 points in the fourth, fueled by improved ball movement and efficient shooting. Their defensive pressure forced key turnovers that helped turn the momentum in their favor down the stretch.
With the win, CCBC Catonsville opens conference play on a high note and looks to carry that momentum into their next matchup. The Cardinals' depth, rebounding, and late-game execution highlighted the growth of a team finding its rhythm as the season progresses.
