Cardinals Split Doubleheader at Cecil College

North East, MD – March 25, 2026 – Cardinals Split Doubleheader at Cecil College

The CCBC Catonsville Cardinals split a double header on the road against Cecil College, dropping game one 6-1 before bouncing back with a 13-4 win in game two. The Cardinals showed resilience throughout the day, responding to a tough first game with an explosive offensive performance in the second.

In game one, both teams were held scoreless early before Cecil broke through in the third inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Cardinals answered in the fourth inning with a solo home run from Alana Watts to get on the board, while Cecil added more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to extend their lead. Catonsville had a chance in the sixth, loading the bases with hits from Caitlin Miles and Watts along with a walk from Maggie Rowland, but were unable to bring the runs home, as Cecil held on for the 6-1 win.

Game two had a very different start, as the Cardinals came out fast with a five-run first inning. Key contributions included a two-RBI double from Rowland, and RBI single from Renee Askin, and a two-RBI hit from Ellora Edquist. Catonsville kept the offence going with additional runs in the second, third, and fourth innings, highlighted by more RBIs from Watts, Edquist, and Askin.

The Cardinals added two more runs in the fifth and seventh innings, taking advantage of timely hitting and aggressive baserunning. Cecil answered with a three-run in the fifth inning, but Catonsville's early lead and consistent offence held up. The defense stayed solid late to secure the 13-4 win and earn the split.

The Cardinals will look to carry the momentum from game two into their next matchup.
