CATONSVILLE, MD -- CCBC Catonsville head men’s soccer coach Phil Saunders announced the release of the Cardinals 2017 soccer schedule.
Saunders will be beginning his first year as head coach after serving as the goalkeeper coach during the 2016 campaign. Saunders begins rebuilding a team coming off of a 5-10-2 record.
The Cardinals begin the season with three straight games on the road beginning August 22 when they visit Northern Virginia Community College (Springfield, Va.) at 3 p.m.
Next, the Cattonsville team will be in upstate New York for the weekend to face Niagara Community College (Sanborn, N.Y.) on Saturday, August 26 and Erie Community College (Williamsville, N.Y.) on Sunday, August 27.
August gives way to September and as the semester begins and the Cardinals participate in a play day - at sister campus CCBC Essex - on September 2 against Sussex County Community College (Newton, N.J.) at 1 p.m.
The Cardinals return home September 5 for a 7 p.m. match against Frederick Community College. Saunderss team will be back in action just three days later for another home contest against Chesapeake College starting at 6 p.m.
Catonsville hits the road for three Maryland JUCO contests, traveling to Hagerstown Community College (Sept. 12 at 4 p.m.), Howard Community College (Sept. 15 at 4 p.m.) and Montgomery College (Sept.19 at 4p.m.).
On Saturday September 23, the Cards play its final game of the season at the Catonsville campus, a noon match with Harford Community College.
After the Harford game, the ground breaking for a new turf field will begin and be ready for the 2018 season.
The road warrior Cardinals then hit the road for four games beginning with a trip to College of Southern Maryland on September 25 with a 4 p.m. start. Cecil is the next stop on September 29 (4 p.m.).
The calendar then turns to October and the next stop is a “measuring stick” game with sister school, and perineal powerhouse, CCBC Essex (Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.).
The Cardinals then finish the road portion of its regular season schedule on October 6 with a visit to the River Hawks of Anne Arundel Community College at 6 p.m.
The last three home matches will be played at sister campus CCBC Dundalk with games against Allegany Community College (Oct. 10 at 6 p.m.), Mercer County Community College (West Windsor Township, N.J., Oct. 13 at 5 p.m.) and Prince George’s Community College (Oct. 17 at 6 p.m.).
