A Conclave of Cardinals Bring Home Post Season Accolades

The Cardinals finished this season 26-23 (.531) and the efforts of six student-athletes are now being recognized.

Freshman first baseman Trejon Smith was selected to the All Maryland JUCO First Team and All Region XX First Team. He also earned a spot on the Region XX All Tournament Team and MD JUCO All Star Game.

Smith batted .362 with a .443 on-base percentage and slugging percentage of .497. He also collected four homers, 37 RBIs, six doubles and a triple.

Freshman third baseman Matt Bougourd received All Maryland Second Team, All Region XX Second Team and MD JUCO All Star Game selections.

Bougourd finished the season with a team-high (minimum 100 at-bats) .382 batting average, had a .432 on-base percentage and slugged .585. He also had 4 home runs 23 RBIs, 11 doubles and a triple.

Freshman outfielder Ben Sifen earned All Region XX Second Team honors and was selected to play in the MD JUCO All Star Game.

Sifen hit .299 with an on-base percentage of .407. The speedster also swiped 24 bases and was caught just three times.

Another freshman outfielder, Abel Arocho, was selected to the Region XX All Tournament Team. He batted .336 this season with a .431 on-base percentage.

Sophomore infielder Miles Campbell and freshman pitcher Nick Collins are also headed to the MDJUCO All Star Game.

Campbell ended his campaign with a .339 batting average, .391 on-base percentage and led the team with 165 at-bats.

Collins, a right-handed reliever, went 5-1 with a 1.88 earned run average. He struck out 24 hitters, while walking 12 in 24 innings pitched.
