CATONSVILLE, Md. -- Nick Collins pitched six dominating innings, striking out 12 and Dalton Swanger hit a game-winning grand slam in game one of a double header against College of Southern Maryland on Friday afternoon.
Matthew Thomas had three hits and four RBIs and Brandon O’Malley remained unbeaten in game two, as CCBC Catonsville swept a double header from the Hawks.
Game 1: CCBC Catonsville picked up win number 20, as sophomore starting pitcher Nick Collins dominated the game. Collins (2-0) threw six, giving up only one run and striking out 12.
The game was tied at 1-1 going into the bottom of the sixth when freshman right-fielder Dalton Swanger connected for a grand slam, putting the Cardinals ahead 5-1.
Head coach Dan Blue would go to closer Craig Lopez to slam the door on the Hawks.
Game 2: Matthew Thomas had three hits and four RBIs, Swanger and Christian Munoz had two each in support of Brandon O’Malley (5-0) and the Cardinals defeated College of Southern Maryland 10-4.
Michael Pelaez worked the final two and a third innings to pick up the save for Catonsville (21-10-1).
